Hey Friend!
In this manifesto…
We explore the transformative practice of the life audit—what it looks like to regularly reassess not just your budget or fitness, but your beliefs, your identity, your values, and your sacred way of being as a Black woman. This isn’t just about goals—it’s about alignment. It’s about shaking off the old lies and reclaiming your divine power, one intention at a time.
The Move That Moved Me
In a few weeks, I’ll be moving into a new space. And as much as I’m excited to finally get it over with—because whew, the planning has been a beast—I also recognize this move isn’t just physical.
This move is spiritual.
Mental.
Cultural.
Cellular.
It’s not just boxes and furniture—it’s a shift. And when your life starts shifting, you realize the importance of pausing and saying:
“Where am I… really?”
Why We Need a Monthly Life Audit (Not Just a New Year’s Resolution)
We’ve been conditioned to do yearly “resets”—usually tied to capitalism’s favorite holiday: New Year’s Day. But what if we made reassessment a monthly rhythm? Not just our budget or our waistline—but our soul?
What if every month, we asked:
Do my beliefs still serve me?
What am I shedding?
What’s awakening in me?
Am I still acting out of old programming, or new power?
Monthly life audits are an act of rebellion for Black women. Because we were never meant to sleepwalk through life—we were meant to shape-shift it.
This Is a Full-System Audit
Let me be clear: I’m not just talking about writing down your goals in a pretty planner.
I’m talking about a complete energetic, spiritual, cultural audit of your life. Ask yourself:
What do I believe about success? Where did that come from?
Who taught me how to dress, speak, act “respectably”? Did I agree to that?
When I look in the mirror, who do I see? Whose story am I still wearing?
Because once you realize you’ve been dressing up in someone else’s shame—and calling it professionalism, beauty, or survival—you start asking better questions.
The Awakening: Blackness, Africanness, and the Grief of the Lie
The more I’ve leaned into my identity as a Black woman—as an African woman—the more I’ve had to grieve.
Grieve the years I thought “African” was an insult.
Grieve the friendships built on shared silence instead of truth.
Grieve the version of me that thought she had to assimilate to be safe.
And with the grief comes fire. And with the fire comes clarity.
It’s Okay to Change Everything
You get to change your:
Beliefs
Wardrobe
Language
Community
Boundaries
Traditions
And you don’t owe anybody an explanation.
This new path I’m walking? It’s lined with ancestral wisdom, sacred curiosity, and a whole lot of unlearning. And yes, that means leaving some people behind. It means being misunderstood. It means crying on a random Tuesday because your body remembered a lie you forgot you believed.
But it also means being free.
Why This Is the Soft Work AND the Sacred Work
Doing a life audit is not just a productivity exercise. For Black women, it’s a return to the divine.
It is:
A healing ritual
A liberation blueprint
A prayer disguised as a question
And yes, it might be scary. You might feel like a fraud. You might feel sad. But you’ll also feel alive. Because for the first time, you’re choosing who you want to be—not who you were told to be.
A Monthly Practice, A Revolutionary Life
So now, this isn’t just something I’m doing once. It’s a ritual. Every month, I’m going to sit with myself and ask:
What did I believe this month?
What did I need?
What changed in me?
Where am I still playing small?
Because real growth is monthly.
The revolution is rhythmic.
And your liberation is in the details.
