Welcome to Your Earthy Black Girl Era: How Dressing with Intention Becomes a Spiritual Practice

Hey Friend!

In this manifesto…

We explore what it means to step into your Earthy Black Girl Era—a soulful, intuitive, style-rooted awakening that goes far beyond fashion. You’ll learn how your evolving aesthetic can be a protective ritual, a self-affirming practice, and a deeply personal expression of your spirit. Whether you're dancing between yoga pants and maxi dresses or layering wooden bangles passed down from mama, this post unpacks how it’s not about the clothes—it’s about the energy behind them.

Style As a Spell: The Start of Something Rooted

I’ve never had a consistent “style.” I’ve been a yoga-pants-and-t-shirt girl one month and a flowy-dress-bohemian-goddess the next. And honestly? I love that about me. If you were to ask someone what my aesthetic is, they’d probably mumble something like eclectic—which is just a cute way to say she does what she wants, when she wants.

But recently? Something’s shifted. I’ve stepped into what I can only describe as my Earthy Black Girl Era. And baby—she feels like home.

A Virgo’s Wardrobe Meets Ancestral Rhythm

As a Virgo and a 3/5 Manifesting Generator, change doesn’t scare me. But this change? It’s not just a new look—it’s an alignment. I’ve always been an earth sign, and now my outer world is finally catching up with the one I’ve cultivated inside.

My home has always been a warm nest of browns, greens, burnt oranges, and natural textures. Now, my outfits match the same frequency. Wooden earrings. Beaded necklaces from my mother. Bracelets gifted by friends and brought back from ancestral lands.

And I feel beautiful. I feel protected. I feel like me.

When Getting Dressed Becomes a Ritual

This era really started with a simple gathering at a coworker's home. I knew what I wanted to wear. I could feel it. But none of the pieces were in my closet…yet.

So I created it—on the fly. And what came together wasn’t just an outfit. It was armor. It was ceremony.

I layered on meaning with every item:

  • A wooden bracelet from a friend

  • Wooden earrings gifted in love

  • A nepary necklace passed down from my mom

  • Bracelets brought from travels by coworkers

Before I left, I sat with my ancestors. I called in protection. I dressed with intention.

And when I walked into that gathering? I wasn’t just cute—I was anchored.

The Spell Is in the Feeling

There’s a powerful difference between performing a protection ritual and feeling protected.

And I believe it comes down to your thoughts.

Your thoughts create your feelings. So when I:

Use herbs to dress my body

Make a tea that soothes my energy

Take a bath that cleanses my spirit

Wear jewelry that connects me to lineage

…it’s not just about the doing. It’s the thinking.

“I am protected.”

“I am beautiful.”

“I am rooted.”

And from those thoughts come the feelings. From the feelings come the actions. And from the actions comes a new identity.

Be. Do. Have. Start Anywhere.

If you’re craving a change in your life—whether it’s soft girl energy, feminine healing, or your own earthy chapter—start anywhere. Start by being. Start by doing. Start by having.

Maybe don’t introduce the new you at work just yet. Maybe it begins at a small gathering, a quick trip to Starbucks, a journaling circle, or even a solo date to the park.

But whatever you do… begin.

Because action builds confidence. And the thoughts you carry into those actions? They build your future self.

Boundaries Are a Form of Spiritual Hygiene

Here’s something else I’ve learned:

Not everyone deserves access to your dreams.

We think of dreams as goals or ideas—but they’re intimate. Sacred, even. And they should only be spoken aloud in spaces that can hold their weight.

If someone gossips about others, chances are they gossip about you too. And if they can’t clap for themselves, they won’t clap for your transformation. So don’t feel bad about keeping parts of your evolution private.

Let your becoming be your offering.

The Cookie Recipe Metaphor 🍪

You ever find a cookie recipe so good that you can’t wait to tell someone about it? That’s how it feels when you start stepping into this new era of self.

You wanna share it. You want the world to know:

“I found something that works for me.”

But sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do is just bake the damn cookies in silence. Let the scent speak for itself. Let your glow reveal what you’ve been up to.

Final Thought: Go Be You (Loudly or Softly)

So whether you’re stepping into:

Your Earthy Black Girl Era

Your Soft Season

Your Feminine Reclamation Era

Or something else entirely…

I want to hear about it. I want to see it. I want you to live it.

✨ Let me know where you’re at in your becoming.

✨ Let’s root for each other—quietly, wildly, whatever way you need.
